The Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration has taken a bold new turn—this time inside the halls of the Social Security Administration. In a move that’s already sparking cheers on the right and howls from the usual suspects, one federal manager is learning the hard way what happens when you defy a president who actually intends to enforce the law.
Greg Pearre, a tech manager at SSA headquarters in Woodlawn, Maryland, was escorted out of his office by security guards on Thursday after refusing to follow orders. His offense? Refusing to mark illegal migrants as “deceased” in the government’s internal system known as the “death master file.” That’s the same database used to stop payments to people who have actually died—but under a new Trump directive, it’s now being used to terminate Social Security numbers issued to illegal immigrants enrolled in now-defunct Biden-era programs.
To most Americans, it’s common sense. If you’re not here legally, you shouldn’t be collecting benefits meant for citizens and legal residents. But to the left? It’s somehow “unprecedented.”
“This is an unprecedented step,” gasped Devin O’Connor of the far-left Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. “They’re declaring people dead who are not dead!” Right, because the real scandal here is protecting taxpayer dollars, not the millions handed out in benefits to people who snuck into the country.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt set the record straight: “The Trump Administration is protecting lawful American citizens and their hard-earned Social Security benefits, and ensuring illegal immigrants will no longer receive such economic entitlements.”
“Anyone who disagrees with the common sense policies of this Administration can find a new job,” she added. Message received.
The migrants in question—roughly 1.4 million—entered the U.S. under two now-terminated Biden programs: the CBP One app and the CNVH parole program. They were given work permits and, in many cases, tapped into social safety nets that were never meant for them. According to internal reports, at least 1,000 of these individuals were receiving Medicaid, 41 were on unemployment, and 22 had even gotten student loans.
The Trump administration has already added more than 6,200 names to the “deceased” file, essentially rendering their Social Security numbers invalid. That means no jobs, no benefits, no freebies—and that’s exactly the point.
“President Trump promised mass deportations,” said White House spokeswoman Elizabeth Huston. “And by removing the monetary incentive for illegal aliens to come and stay, we will encourage them to self-deport. He is delivering on his promise he made to the American people.”
And for bureaucrats who think they’re above that mission? Pack your boxes.
Put this piece of excrement in jail.
