WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt Discusses ‘Atypical Love Story’ With MUCH Older Husband

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has already made history as the youngest person ever to hold the position—and she did so just months after giving birth. But until recently, little was known about her personal life, particularly her marriage to Nicholas Riccio, a 59-year-old real estate mogul.

During a candid interview on The Megyn Kelly Show, the 27-year-old rising political star opened up about her relationship, addressing their 32-year age gap and sharing how their unique love story unfolded.

“It’s a very atypical love story, but he’s incredible,” Leavitt told Kelly. “He is my greatest supporter, he’s my best friend, he’s my rock.”

A Chance Meeting on the Campaign Trail

Leavitt revealed that she and Riccio first met in 2022, while she was campaigning for a congressional seat in New Hampshire.

“A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband,” she explained. “I was speaking. We met, we were acquainted as friends, and then we fell in love.”

Though Leavitt ultimately lost that congressional race, her personal life took an unexpected turn. The couple got engaged in 2023, welcomed their son Nicholas Robert “Niko” Riccio in July 2024, and tied the knot just two weeks before President Donald Trump’s second inauguration.

Leavitt recently called their wedding “one of my favorite days” in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Riccio’s Success Story: From Homeless to Millionaire

Leavitt praised her husband’s success in the real estate industry, explaining that his self-made fortune allowed him to support her as she pursued her political ambitions.

“He’s built a very successful business himself, so now he’s fully supportive of me building my success in my career,” she said.

Riccio’s story is one of resilience—having experienced homelessness in his youth, he eventually built a multimillion-dollar real estate empire, amassing an estimated $6 million net worth. His financial stability also helped fund Leavitt’s congressional campaign.

Beyond his business acumen, Leavitt emphasized Riccio’s role as a father and homemaker, enabling her to dedicate herself fully to her demanding job in Washington.

“I walked into your life, and it’s been a circus ever since,” she joked. “But God bless him, because he’s fully on board.”

While some critics have mocked their age gap, many supporters admire Leavitt’s confidence in her unconventional romance—proof that love doesn’t follow the rules.
