Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent set off fireworks today with a post announcing that, under President Trump’s direction, the Treasury Department is actively moving to cut every single federal benefit currently going to illegal aliens. Not reduce. Not trim. Cut. All of it. And keep those benefits exclusively for American citizens, which is how the system was supposed to work in the first place before Biden cracked it open like a busted vending machine.
It is honestly incredible that this even needs to be done. A functioning country should not have to debate whether people who broke into it should enjoy the same benefits as the citizens who fund it. Yet here we are, reversing years of chaos because the last administration treated the border like a polite suggestion.

Bessent’s announcement came directly in response to a Trump post that was so sharp it practically carved a trench through social media. Trump laid out the insanity of America’s current immigration burden with brutal clarity. According to him, the foreign born population sits at 53 million, much of which is being propped up by taxpayers who are too decent to complain even as their communities buckle under the weight of crime, failing schools, overcrowded hospitals and exploding deficits. Trump even pointed to the disaster unfolding in Minnesota, where Somali gangs have turned entire neighborhoods into no go zones while Gov. Tim Walz does nothing except smile awkwardly for cameras.
Then came Trump’s Thanksgiving message. Only he could manage to pack gratitude, fury, policy, insult comedy and a full scale immigration manifesto into a single holiday post. He said exactly what normal Americans say privately at their dinner tables. Mass migration has wrecked quality of life in this country and Biden’s illegal admissions only made it worse. Trump vowed to permanently pause migration from third world nations, cancel Biden’s autopen admissions, strip every benefit from noncitizens, deport public charges and remove anyone who does not love this country. It was vintage Trump, blunt and unapologetic.
Bessent’s announcement shows that the administration is not just talking. They are moving at full speed to choke off the incentive structure that drove the invasion in the first place. Federal benefits are the magnet. Turn off the magnet, you turn off the flow.
The left will melt down, of course. They always do when Trump shifts power back to the people who built this country. But the truth is simple. Citizens deserve priority. Illegal aliens do not. And for the first time in years, America finally has a government acting like it understands that.
