The real January 6 investigation is finally underway, and the FBI is scrambling. President Trump’s Department of Justice has obtained internal FBI records exposing the staggering extent of the Bureau’s involvement in January 6-related investigations—something the agency has desperately tried to keep under wraps.
According to a new report from CNN, over 5,000 FBI employees were involved in some capacity in these politically charged probes. To put that into perspective, the FBI has just over 13,000 agents and 38,000 total employees—meaning a massive percentage of the Bureau was focused on going after Trump supporters while ignoring leftist agitators and federal informants who infiltrated the protests.
Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove isn’t messing around. He sent a memo titled “Terminations” on Friday, giving FBI officials until Tuesday at noon to hand over all records on employees who participated in the January 6 investigations. And that’s just the beginning—Bove has already dismissed eight senior FBI officials who oversaw cyber, national security, and criminal investigations.
Adding to the pressure, Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has now deployed investigators to FBI headquarters to audit what the Bureau has been up to. Musk himself is reportedly leading the initiative, ensuring that Trump’s promise to drain the deep-state swamp is actually happening.
Not surprisingly, FBI employees are furious that they’re finally being held accountable. Multiple agents have filed a lawsuit against the DOJ, claiming their constitutional rights were violated when they were asked to fill out a survey about their involvement in January 6 investigations.
The lawsuit even admits that FBI officials are terrified of being exposed, arguing that Trump’s DOJ is “retaliatory in nature, intended to intimidate FBI agents and discourage them from reporting malfeasance.”
Translation? They’re scared their abuse of power is coming to light.
Incoming FBI Director Kash Patel has already made it clear that the days of politically motivated investigations are over. During his Senate hearing, he promised there would be no political retribution, but that doesn’t mean those responsible for abusing their power won’t face consequences.
The internal chaos at the FBI only intensified after Trump issued a sweeping pardon for January 6 defendants. Within days, more than a dozen FBI officials involved in politically driven criminal investigations were dismissed.
For years, the FBI has operated as an unchecked political weapon, targeting Trump and his supporters while protecting leftist radicals. Now, thanks to Trump’s second term and an administration that actually believes in justice, the deep state is finally being exposed—and the firings are just beginning.
