Trump and Elon Feud Explodes Over ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ – The Gloves Are Of

What was once a high-profile alliance between President Trump and billionaire Elon Musk has now spiraled into a very public feud, complete with personal jabs, spending bill smackdowns, and old tweets resurrected as political ammo.

The fireworks began after Musk went scorched-earth on Trump’s flagship legislation — the $1.6 trillion “Big Beautiful Bill.” Designed to slash bloated federal spending and deliver historic tax relief, the bill passed the House by a razor-thin margin and is now being haggled over in the Senate. Musk, however, couldn’t hold back.

“I just can’t stand it anymore,” he wrote on X. “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.” He went further, shaming legislators who backed it: “You know you did wrong. You know it.”

President Trump, never one to sit quietly while being attacked, shot back on Truth Social and during a press event with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Trump accused Musk of being bitter over the removal of the EV mandate — a key cash pipeline for Tesla — and for pulling the nomination of Jared Isaacman, a Musk ally, to lead NASA. Trump also threatened to cut federal contracts and subsidies tied to Musk’s companies, saying, “The easiest way to save money in our Budget… is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts.”

The president didn’t stop there. “Elon knew this from the beginning,” Trump told reporters. “He’s upset, sure. But this bill — it’s the biggest spending cut and tax cut in U.S. history. It’s beautiful. Big and beautiful.”

But Musk wasn’t impressed. He responded on X with a simple “whatever,” brushing off Trump’s defense of the bill and blasting it again as “a MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK.” He also called it “big and ugly,” mocking Trump’s now-iconic branding.

Musk then pivoted to slamming Trump over old fiscal statements, resurrecting posts where Trump once railed against debt ceiling increases and deficit spending. “Wise words,” Musk wrote, sharing Trump’s own criticism of bloated budgets from 2012 and 2013. He even claimed he never saw the bill and alleged it was passed “in the dead of night.”

Trump, meanwhile, appears ready to cut ties. “Look, Elon and I had a great relationship,” he said. “I don’t know if we will anymore.”

And just like that, the Trump-Musk alliance is on the rocks — another casualty in the war over what’s big, beautiful, and politically acceptable in 2025.
