Suspect Identified in Cybertruck Explosion Outside Trump’s Las Vegas Property

Authorities have identified the driver of a Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside President-elect Trump’s Las Vegas hotel as 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, according to multiple senior law enforcement officials. The FBI has since raided a townhouse complex in Colorado Springs, where Livelsberger was linked to several addresses. Heavily armed agents and armored vehicles were observed at the Stetson Hills location, though officials stress there is no current threat to the surrounding community.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the Cybertruck was rented in Colorado and driven to Las Vegas, arriving shortly before the explosion at 7:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday. Sheriff Kevin McMahill stated that the vehicle contained an improvised explosive device (IED) comprised of liquid fuel and fireworks, which appeared to be wired for detonation from the driver’s seat. Livelsberger’s was the only life lost in the explosion, while seven bystanders sustained injuries.

The incident has prompted federal and state law enforcement agencies to investigate potential links between the Las Vegas bombing and an attack that occurred the same day in New Orleans. Joe Biden confirmed the connection is being explored during remarks in Las Vegas.

Both the Cybertruck in Las Vegas and the truck used in New Orleans were rented through Turo, a peer-to-peer car rental platform. Turo has yet to issue a public statement about the incidents.

Authorities continue to investigate whether the attacks were coordinated or linked in any other ways. With law enforcement conducting raids and tracing connections, the possibility of additional threats remains under close scrutiny. Updates are expected as federal investigators piece together the motives and backgrounds of both attackers.
