Well, look who’s back singing President Trump’s praises now that the bombs have dropped — none other than Mike Pence. Yes, the same Mike Pence who couldn’t bring himself to endorse President Trump during the 2024 campaign, suddenly found his inner MAGA cheerleader on Fox News Sunday after Trump’s decisive strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
During an interview with Martha MacCallum on The Story, Pence went from hesitant critic to full-blown supporter of the President’s military action. Let’s not forget, this is the guy who spent half of 2023 and early 2024 on cable news wringing his hands about how Trump supposedly “abandoned conservative principles.” Yet the moment Trump’s leadership dismantles Iranian nuclear sites with B-2 bombers and 30,000-pound bunker busters, Pence is back to reminiscing about the good old days of the Trump-Pence administration.
When pressed by MacCallum on his previous statement claiming Trump’s agenda was “at odds with conservative principles,” Pence sidestepped faster than a career politician at a town hall. He admitted they had “differences” but quickly pivoted to praising Trump’s “decisive leadership” and the military’s “extraordinary professionalism.”
In Pence’s words, last weekend’s strike was nothing short of a “historic mission,” one that reminded him of their previous achievements, from taking down the ISIS caliphate to eliminating terrorist leader Qasem Soleimani. Funny how standing firm against Iran’s terror machine suddenly brings everyone back to the America First camp, even those who were too timid to endorse Trump when it mattered.
But Pence wasn’t alone. Other predictable Beltway figures like Lindsey Graham, Mark Levin, and, surprisingly, Bill Kristol — the same Bill Kristol who spent years trying to sink Trump — all came crawling back to cheer the operation. Because nothing unites neocons and reluctant Trump supporters like a flex of American military might.
Of course, this whole situation has left some of President Trump’s base divided. Many America First supporters believe we should be focusing on the war at home — the wide-open border, drug cartels poisoning our cities, and woke indoctrination in schools — before dropping bombs overseas. But when it comes to national security, Trump has proven yet again that he doesn’t hesitate.
The irony is thick: the same establishment voices who doubted him now can’t clap loud enough when he acts. That’s called leadership. And apparently, even Mike Pence can recognize it… eventually.
