A school board meeting in Augusta, Maine, descended into absolute chaos Wednesday night when parents opposing the district’s transgender-athlete policy began stripping down to their underwear in front of stunned officials. The protest erupted as the board attempted to defend its decision to allow biological males to compete on girls’ sports teams based on “gender identity” rather than biological sex.
The policy was adopted under the Maine Human Rights Act and mirrors Biden-era guidance that forced schools to treat gender identity as interchangeable with sex. As board members tried to move through the agenda, activist Nick “Corn Pop” Blanchard and two others stood, peeled off layers of clothing, and confronted the board.

"Point of order. We've asked that…" Parent Nick Blanchard replied, "Oh, so wait… You feel uncomfortable? That's what young girls feel when a boy enters their locker room and starts changing." pic.twitter.com/T4b6K03dNF

“You feel uncomfortable? You feel uncomfortable, huh?” Blanchard yelled as members looked away. “That’s what these young girls feel like every time a boy changes in front of them!”
He then blasted the board for ignoring the real-world consequences already seen in other states, referencing the notorious case out of Loudoun County, Virginia, where a male student in a skirt assaulted a girl in a bathroom then allegedly assaulted another at a different school after being transferred.
“You don’t care about the safety of young kids?” Blanchard shouted. “What is going to happen when that happens here?”
The room fell silent as he condemned the board for choosing politics over children. “You know what example you guys are setting? That we do not care about the young girls in this state. You guys care about politics.”
Blanchard also pointed directly to the federal overreach that triggered the dispute to begin with. “Oh, we can’t change it because it’s law? It got changed by an executive order by Biden, which is why we’re here in the first place.”
Following the meeting, Blanchard told Central Maine he had received overwhelming support, claiming more than 150 messages praising him for taking a stand.
The clash comes as Maine defies the Trump administration’s February rollback of Biden’s reinterpretation of Title IX. President Trump’s order reinstated biological sex as the basis for school sports participation, but Augusta and other left-leaning districts refuse to comply.
The episode shows just how explosive this debate has become. With parents now resorting to literal demonstration to make their point, the fight over girls’ sports is far from over — and Maine has put itself at the center of the national battle.
