President Trump Pledges to Lead Charge Against House Rep for Opposing Agenda

If there is one thing members of Congress should know, it’s that they should think twice before crossing the President. President Trump just put Rep. Thomas Massie on blast, calling him out for his “grandstanding” and even comparing him to Liz Cheney—which, in GOP circles, is about as bad as it gets. In a post on Truth Social, Trump didn’t just express disappointment in Massie—he declared he’s ready to lead the charge to primary him. That’s right, Trump is openly calling for a challenge to Massie in Kentucky.

Here’s the key part of Trump’s statement:

“Congressman Thomas Massie, of beautiful Kentucky, is an automatic “NO” vote on just about everything, despite the fact that he has always voted for Continuing Resolutions in the past. HE SHOULD BE PRIMARIED, and I will lead the charge against him. He’s just another GRANDSTANDER, who’s too much trouble, and not worth the fight. He reminds me of Liz Cheney before her historic, record-breaking fall (loss!). The people of Kentucky won’t stand for it, just watch. DO I HAVE ANY TAKERS???”

Ouch. That’s not just a slap—that’s a full-on political smackdown.

So, what’s this all about? Massie has been a vocal opponent of a stopgap funding package backed by the House Freedom Caucus—which, normally, would be his natural allies. The bill is meant to prevent a government shutdown by March 15th, and Speaker Mike Johnson is trying to get it through without Democrat support. The problem? Massie has declared himself a hard “no” on the measure, which could throw a wrench in the plan.

Now, to be fair, Massie has always been one of the most libertarian-leaning Republicans in Congress, and he’s never been shy about bucking leadership—even when Trump was in office. He’s not a yes-man, and he’s proud of it. Some conservatives appreciate his consistency, while others see him as an obstructionist who just likes to make noise.

But here’s the thing: Trump’s word still carries enormous weight in the GOP, and if he’s serious about backing a primary challenge, Massie could be in real trouble. Kentucky is deep red, and if Trump gets behind a challenger, Massie’s days in Congress might be numbered.

What do you think? Is Massie standing on principle, or is he just making life harder for conservatives trying to get things done? Should he be primaried, or is Trump going too far on this one? Either way, one thing’s for sure: this is going to be a battle worth watching.
