CBS News is facing backlash for selectively editing an interview with House Speaker Mike Johnson, which Johnson claims was cut to shield the Biden-Harris administration from criticism. The interview, originally 15 minutes long, had five crucial minutes removed, according to Johnson. The omitted segments, Johnson says, addressed the administration’s delayed response to Hurricane Helene and controversial legal battles over election integrity.
In a social media post, Johnson criticized CBS for leaving out his firsthand accounts from Hurricane Helene victims in North Carolina. “I recently traveled to NC, and victims of Hurricane Helene told me nearly two weeks after landfall, the Biden-Harris Administration had STILL not provided them with all the resources they desperately needed,” Johnson said, adding that CBS “selectively edited OUT ENTIRELY this first-hand perspective.”

Johnson also took issue with CBS excluding his remarks on Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin’s efforts to clean up the state’s voter rolls. He pointed out that Youngkin’s initiative, which aims to prevent non-citizens from voting, has faced opposition from the Biden-Harris administration, which filed a lawsuit to stop the efforts. “Apparently, CBS also doesn’t want you to hear about Virginia Governor Youngkin, who is trying to clean the state’s voter rolls so non-American citizens can’t vote there,” Johnson stated, emphasizing the need for more states to enact similar protections.

The selective editing didn’t end there. Johnson explained that CBS also omitted his comments on the SAVE Act, a bill passed by the House to ensure only American citizens can vote. Johnson criticized the administration for its lenient immigration policies, which he says have allowed millions of illegal aliens into the country. “CBS edited that out and focused on 2020 instead of immediate threats to election integrity,” he noted.
The Biden-Harris Admin let millions of illegal aliens in our country.
So, the House passed the SAVE Act to ensure only American citizens vote in American elections.

This isn’t the first time CBS has faced accusations of biased editing. Just last month, 60 Minutes was caught re-editing an interview with Kamala Harris to make her responses appear more coherent. According to reports, Harris’s jumbled responses were spliced and reorganized to form a more polished answer, leading to claims that the network was actively protecting her public image. Despite calls for transparency, CBS has yet to release the unedited transcript of that interview.

The incident with Speaker Johnson only adds fuel to the fire, as CBS now faces mounting scrutiny over its editorial practices. The network’s refusal to release full, unedited interviews raises questions about its commitment to impartiality. For Johnson and his supporters, the selective editing underscores a perceived double standard in media coverage, one that they argue unfairly shields Democrats from scrutiny while sidelining Republican voices.
