Megyn Kelly isn’t shy about calling out progressive politicians, and she recently cracked a joke about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and her “Squad.” During a chat with venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya and his “All In” podcast co-hosts, Kelly didn’t hold back when they asked her about the state of American politics today.
“It’s getting worse because of Instagram and AOC, that kind of person,” Kelly said. When Palihapitiya asked her to explain further, Kelly hit back with a jab that likely ruffled some feathers: “These are congressional Kardashians.”
The “Squad,” made up of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), often uses social media platforms like Instagram and X to rally their followers and push for their progressive agendas. Kelly made it clear she isn’t a fan of this strategy.
Kelly continued, “I’m going to tell you something, my experience in the news business, dealing with politicians leads me to believe that the people in this room and on this stage over your two-day conference are the people we need to be looking to for our future leaders and ideas and to save the country. It’s not Washington DC. All the incentives to be a good person are gone.”
Ocasio-Cortez is known for her bold positions and has built a massive following, but she’s also drawn heavy criticism from the right, including Kelly. “All AOC wants is to be a star. Congressional Kardashian,” Kelly tweeted during the first day of the 2024 DNC in Chicago. In 2022, Kelly also called AOC a “moron.”

Just last week, presidential candidate Jill Stein took a swipe at AOC, too, saying, “AOC is the attack dog du jour and the Democrats are running scared” after attempts to remove Stein from the ballot to protect votes for Harris.
