You’ve got to hand it to Letitia James—if there were an Emmy for political theater, she’d be clearing space on her mantle. At a recent civil rights event hosted by none other than the Rev. Al Sharpton (because of course), the New York Attorney General delivered what was basically a Sunday sermon-turned-political attack, channeling scripture, MLK, and the spirit of resistance—all to take another swing at President Trump. Because apparently, running the top legal office in New York isn’t enough of a day job when there’s a microphone and a spotlight handy.
“It’s that stone of hope that allows me to wake up and to stand to Donald Trump and to say, Donald Trump, I’m not afraid of you,” James thundered, blending Bible verses with political vitriol. She then claimed she uses the law “as a sword and as a shield,” which would be moving if it weren’t clear her preferred targets just happen to be Republicans, with Trump at the top of the list.
And just in case the crowd wasn’t already riled up, she pulled out the DEI card and went full scorched earth: “DEI is about paid parental leave. DEI is about disabled children,” she yelled, as if anyone questioning diversity, equity, and inclusion policies wants to throw toddlers out on the street. It’s the same tired script—wrap radical policy in emotional appeals and accuse anyone who disagrees of being heartless or, better yet, a bigot.
NY AG Letitia James is another one whose lost her mind over Trump: “I’m covered by the blood. I’m not afraid of Donald Trump. You can come after me, but nothing formed against me will perish!” 🥴pic.twitter.com/ci6ZG4iNS7

Now, to be fair, James isn’t new to using her office like a political bazooka aimed at Trump. From lawsuits over executive orders to crusades against family planning policy changes and even NIH grant structuring, she’s been on a four-year mission to stop Trump from governing—while pretending it’s all just a neutral application of the law. Right.
Let’s not forget the $450 million civil fraud ruling she spearheaded against Trump—a move so aggressive that Trump had to post a $175 million bond just to block asset seizure. But now that he’s back in the White House, the game has changed. President Trump’s Justice Department, led by Pam Bondi, fired back in February with a lawsuit targeting New York’s Green Light Law and calling out James and Governor Hochul for undermining federal immigration law.
And in the ultimate power move, Trump revoked James’s security clearance. Call it karma. If you spend years using your office to attack a president, don’t be shocked when he returns the favor—especially when he’s got the Oval Office pen.
James can keep preaching from the podium, but it’s President Trump who’s holding the gavel now.
