Politico’s Beltway “scoop” machine coughed up another dud this week, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt wasn’t about to let it slide. The article claimed Elon Musk is being quietly shoved out of the Trump administration over “internal frustrations.” But according to Leavitt, the only thing being shoved is more mainstream media nonsense down the public’s throat.
“This ‘scoop’ is garbage,” Leavitt declared on X. “Elon Musk and President Trump have both publicly stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete.”
This “scoop” is garbage.
Elon Musk and President Trump have both *publicly* stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete. https://t.co/Brppff6SKi

That would be the Department of Government Efficiency—President Trump’s favorite new acronym and arguably the most productive wing of his administration. Musk was never appointed for a lifetime gig. From the beginning, he said he’d help slash waste, overhaul tech infrastructure, and get America’s fiscal house in order before returning to his businesses. The guy wasn’t signing up for a pension.
But Politico, citing—you guessed it—anonymous sources, painted a picture of chaos and “concern” within the administration. The article claimed Trump aides were wringing their hands over Musk’s off-the-cuff remarks and social media antics, and used a loss in a Wisconsin Supreme Court race as proof Musk had become a “political liability.” Sounds like the same recycled narrative they’ve been using on Trump for eight years.
What they conveniently ignored? That DOGE is on pace to save taxpayers over $1 trillion. One. Trillion. That’s not “optics.” That’s actual results. And as Trump himself said this week, “Elon’s a patriot. He’s done more in six months than some Cabinet secretaries do in six years.”
Trump made clear he wants Musk to stay “as long as possible,” even if the plan has always been temporary. He praised Musk for enduring threats and targeted vandalism against Tesla just for serving the country. Meanwhile, the press frets over tweet tone and made-up “drama.”
And Musk? Cool as ever. Asked by Fox’s Bret Baier if he’s ready to step back, Musk replied, “I think we will have accomplished most of the work required to reduce the deficit by $1 trillion within that time frame.” Doesn’t sound like a guy getting pushed out. Sounds like a man finishing the mission.
So no, Politico. There’s no palace intrigue. Just a private citizen doing the work Washington has failed at for decades. And the swamp can’t stand it.
The country owes a BIG thank you to Elon Musk for all he is accomplishing at personal expense to himself and his safety. Typical Democrats, along with the liberal press, acting like the true scum of the earth they are instead of helping our the citizens of America.
