Chief Justice John Roberts is finding himself in the hot seat again—and this time, it’s not over a court ruling, but a cozy, undisclosed relationship with one of the Left’s top legal hitmen: former Obama ethics czar Norm Eisen.
A new report by Revolver News reveals that Roberts spent an entire week living with Eisen in the Czech Republic at the former ambassador’s palatial estate—yes, an actual 150-room castle—while allegedly working on so-called “rule of law” issues. You read that right: the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court bunked up with the guy known for orchestrating Trump’s first impeachment, crafting color revolution strategies, and pushing the Transition Integrity Project—a dry-run war game for ousting Trump no matter the outcome of the election.
What could possibly go wrong?
Eisen, for his part, confirmed the get-together and gushed that Roberts was a “close friend.” That’s not a sentence anyone on the Right wanted to hear. Especially since Eisen’s entire brand is weaponizing the law to kneecap political enemies—Trump being enemy number one.
So, the natural question is: what exactly were Eisen and Roberts working on during their weeklong European sleepover? According to Eisen himself, they were discussing “American and European rule of law issues.” Vague enough to be meaningless, but ominous enough to raise serious eyebrows.
Mike Benz, a former State Department official, didn’t let that slide. He called out the Orwellian doublespeak, warning that these “rule of law” programs often disguise efforts to capture legal institutions and courts. “They’re all about control over the judges, the prosecutors, the courts, the law schools,” Benz said. Translation: this isn’t about impartial justice—it’s about who holds the reins.
It doesn’t help that Roberts has already drawn fire from the America First crowd. Remember back in March when he rebuked Trump’s criticism of rogue judges blocking his policies left and right? Roberts wrapped himself in the robes of judicial independence, but the timing was unmistakable—it sounded more like a rebuke of Trump’s entire agenda.
Let’s not forget, Eisen has been the architect behind multiple anti-Trump legal campaigns. He helped write the playbook for using lawfare against political opponents. And now we’re supposed to believe that his “close friend” on the Supreme Court will be totally unbiased when Trump-related cases hit the docket?
If this report is accurate—and no one has denied it—Roberts should at the very least recuse himself from any case involving Trump or Eisen’s legal tentacles. Better yet, maybe it’s time the Chief Justice start worrying less about “European rule of law” and a little more about the crumbling trust in our own.
