If the left’s go-to political strategy is calling every Republican a “fascist,” then congratulations they’ve officially worn it out. The term has been repeated so often, so mindlessly, and with such little regard for its actual meaning, it’s now lost any serious impact. And after years of being called everything from “Nazi” to “threat to democracy,” conservatives like Jesse Watters have decided enough is enough.
During a fiery exchange on The Five with resident lefty Jessica Tarlov, Watters laid it out plain and simple: “We look weak when we complain about it.” He’s right. The endless hand-wringing over being called fascists hasn’t stopped the insults or the violence. So now, Watters says, don’t bother responding. “Call us whatever you want. I don’t care anymore.”
That’s the only sane approach in a political environment where the left’s rhetoric has spiraled out of control, and the consequences are deadly. The attempted assassination of President Trump in 2024 and the murder of Charlie Kirk are just two examples of what happens when political opponents are dehumanized 24/7 by the media, late-night comedians, and elected Democrats. When everyone you disagree with is labeled a fascist, eventually someone’s going to act on it.
The left still doesn’t get this. In fact, they double down. ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel not because his rhetoric had crossed the line, but because the backlash from normal Americans was too loud to ignore. Kimmel had made snide comments about Kirk’s shooter, and yet some still wondered why there’s violence in the streets. You tell people for years that someone is evil, then act shocked when someone picks up a rifle.
A Napolitan News Service poll found that 26% of Americans aged 18 to 34 think the country is “better off now that Charlie Kirk has been killed.” That’s horrifying. Even more disturbing: 24% of Democrats agree. This is the poisonous fruit of constant demonization.
Meanwhile, President Trump is taking action. He’s already labeled Antifa a “major terrorist organization” and is reportedly exploring ways to codify that into law. No, Antifa isn’t just a Twitter buzzword. It’s a loosely organized network of violent radicals who claim to fight “fascism” while acting exactly like fascists. It’s about time the government recognized the threat.
The left thought their constant use of the word “fascist” would scare conservatives into silence. Instead, it’s become white noise and conservatives are done playing defense.
