The days of illegal immigrants mooching off taxpayer-funded housing are officially over. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner, alongside Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, just dropped a bombshell policy shift that slams the door on the misuse of housing aid by those in the country illegally.
In a powerful joint memorandum signed Monday, the two cabinet officials rolled out the “American Housing Programs for American Citizens” initiative, making it abundantly clear: only U.S. citizens and lawful residents will benefit from federal housing programs. Imagine that—putting Americans first in America. Radical, right?
Secretary Turner didn’t mince words on X, posting, “No more taxpayer-funded housing for illegals.” Short, sweet, and exactly what millions of Americans have been waiting to hear.
Today we ended taxpayer-funded housing for illegal aliens.
Proud to partner with @Sec_Noem to ensure illegal aliens cannot exploit programs meant for Americans.

Under @POTUS, Americans will no longer take a back seat to illegal aliens.

For years, the housing system has been overrun with abuse, with illegal aliens accessing resources meant for American families—families struggling to pay rent, living paycheck to paycheck, and watching their taxes fund benefits for people who broke our laws to get here. Turner and Noem are ending that madness.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishes an interagency partnership between HUD and DHS to monitor, verify, and enforce eligibility for housing benefits. HUD will deploy a full-time staffer to DHS’s Incident Command Center (ICC) to aid in real-time data sharing, making it significantly harder for illegal aliens to game the system.
“American tax dollars should be used for the benefit of American citizens, especially when it comes to an issue as pressing as our nation’s housing crisis,” Turner said in a statement. Finally, a cabinet official with some backbone.
Noem, never one to pull punches, hammered the point home: “The Biden Administration prioritized illegal aliens over our own citizens… Not anymore. If you are an illegal immigrant, you should leave now. The gravy train is over.”
This move follows President Donald Trump’s executive order last month demanding federal agencies identify and eliminate all taxpayer-funded benefits going to illegal immigrants. The Trump administration is putting America First in real policy terms—not just slogans.
So let the Left scream and the usual suspects in the media melt down. This isn’t about “compassion”—it’s about fairness, law, and basic common sense. If you broke into the country, you don’t get a free place to stay.
American homes for American citizens. That’s how it should be.
