Hillary Clinton popped up again this week with one of the strangest political fantasies anyone has heard in a long time. And considering the source, that is saying something. She walked out on stage and proudly unveiled her big dream for America. Not a plan for the economy, not a vision for national security, not even a policy pitch. No, her grand idea is a national sound system that would one day blast out the announcement, “We solved the problem, Trump is gone.”

That is the big dream she cooked up after nearly a decade of stewing over 2016. A national loudspeaker. You would think after losing to President Trump she might have spent some time reflecting on how to modernize her party’s message. Instead, she came back with an idea that sounds like something a bored kid would dream up during indoor recess. If anyone else proposed this, people would politely smile and steer them away from the microphone. Hillary, however, delivers it like it is a blueprint for world peace.
The whole thing is pathetic, but also telling. She keeps proving she has no interest in connecting with actual voters. Her obsession with President Trump is the only consistent theme she has left. She is stuck in a permanent psychological loop where removing him solves everything. It is the political equivalent of believing that cleaning your garage will magically fix your marriage.
But there is a darker angle here too. Every time a prominent Democrat publicly fantasizes about President Trump being “gone,” it fuels the worst kind of rhetoric. We have already watched two assassination attempts. So hearing Hillary Clinton casually talk about a nationwide announcement celebrating his removal is reckless. Even if she thinks she is being clever, it feeds exactly the kind of environment no responsible leader should encourage.
She knows better, or at least she should. She was Secretary of State. She understands how words get twisted by fanatics. Yet she still plays with this stuff like it is a comedy routine. Then her side pretends to be stunned when some lunatic takes things too far.
If anything, this moment proves what most Americans already see. She never got over losing to President Trump, never found a new purpose and never figured out how to move on. So now she is reduced to daydreaming about a giant national speaker system announcing her personal victory fantasy.
It is embarrassing for her, and it is embarrassing for the party that still treats her like a wise elder. At this point she should stop giving speeches and start giving herself a long overdue reality check.
