Just when you think politics can’t get any more embarrassing, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), age 70 going on 17, fired up his out-of-tune guitar, croaked out a tone-deaf anti-Trump parody of a Jimi Hendrix classic, and posted the whole trainwreck online for the world to cringe at. Yes, seriously.
Johnson, who’s best known for once warning that the island of Guam might tip over due to overpopulation (look it up), decided that America needed to hear his artistic take on “Hey Joe,” Hendrix’s 1967 hit. His version? “Hey Trump.” Because of course it is. And in true Democrat fashion, he couldn’t just make his point with policy — he had to wrap it in a musical mess and call it “Black Music Month.”
He opens with a warning: “I hate to hurt your ears.” Mission accomplished, Congressman.
Let’s be clear — this wasn’t just a bad performance. It was painful. The guitar was out of tune, the lyrics were predictable and juvenile, and the message was just another stale attempt to paint President Trump as a dictator-in-waiting. “Hey Trump, where you going with that gun in your hand?” Johnson croons, trying (and failing) to sound serious. Then it gets worse: “I’m going down the street to shoot democracy. You know I want to be a king someday.”
June is Black Music Month. This year, I decided to come back with another jam session for you all. Here is my rendition of "Hey Joe" by the Godfather of Rock, Jimi Hendrix. pic.twitter.com/idBOQRKeet

This is what passes for political commentary in the Democrat Party now. Not intelligent debate, not real concern for the country’s direction — just cringe-worthy protest songs that sound like they were written by a freshman with a Tumblr blog in 2012.
Johnson said he wanted to honor Black Music Month with this tribute, calling Hendrix the “Godfather of Rock.” Funny — Jimi Hendrix was a revolutionary musician who hated phoniness. If he were alive today, chances are he’d be rolling his eyes at some D.C. lifer trying to ride his coattails for TikTok clout and cheap political points.
And while Johnson claims he’s still “learning” to play guitar, maybe someone in his office should’ve suggested he keep the practice sessions private. Or at least wait until he can play a full chord without it sounding like a cat stepped on the strings.
In the end, Johnson’s “performance” is just another reminder of how unserious today’s Democrats have become. While President Trump is out drawing massive crowds and focusing on America’s comeback, his critics are busy filming garage-band tantrums and calling it resistance. Pathetic.
