Looks like President Trump’s second administration might be getting an extra dose of America First energy. In a recent interview with NewsNation, former Alaska Governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin made it clear that she’s ready and willing to serve. When asked if she’d take a role in Trump’s team, she didn’t hesitate: “Yes, I would. I would love to.”

Palin, who led energy-rich Alaska from 2006 to 2009, has been an outspoken advocate for American energy independence for years. She expressed some surprise that she wasn’t given a role in Trump’s first administration, particularly in the energy sector. “That’s my baby,” she said, referring to her passion for making America energy independent. And she’s absolutely right—energy security is national security. Under Trump, the U.S. achieved energy independence for the first time in decades, only for Biden to come in and dismantle it. Now that Trump is back in the White House, it’s the perfect time to bring in leaders who understand what made the country strong in the first place.
But here’s where it gets interesting—Palin suggested that “gatekeepers” around Trump may have been the reason she was kept out the first time. She even mentioned that she wasn’t given credentials to attend the GOP convention, despite being one of the only Republican presidential or vice presidential candidates to publicly support Trump. If that’s true, it raises a real concern: who’s been making staffing decisions, and why would they keep someone like Palin on the sidelines? The America First movement isn’t about protecting the D.C. elite—it’s about bringing in real conservatives who actually want to get things done.
Palin remains a strong voice in the conservative movement, even after her unsuccessful 2022 congressional run in Alaska. Her early endorsement of Trump in 2016 helped solidify his support among grassroots conservatives, and she’s still a force to be reckoned with. If Trump is serious about cleaning house and surrounding himself with fighters, Palin would be an obvious pick for an energy or interior-related position.
At the end of the day, Trump’s second administration has a golden opportunity to finally take back control from the deep state and put America back on the right track. But to do that, he needs to make sure he’s got the right people in the right places. And if there are still “gatekeepers” trying to block strong conservatives, they need to go.
