In yet another shocking revelation of government mismanagement, Elon Musk reported early Monday morning that FEMA—an agency meant to serve American citizens in times of disaster—sent $59 million just last week to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.
The @DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.
Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order.
That money is meant for American disaster relief…

Is that not insane? While Americans are living in tents in disaster-stricken areas like North Carolina, FEMA is footing the bill for illegal aliens to live it up in swanky hotels like the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan.
Musk didn’t just blow the whistle; he also pointed out the obvious—this violates the law. It directly interferes with President Trump’s executive order issued earlier this year, which established the FEMA Response Council to refocus FEMA’s mission on helping Americans, not funding Joe Biden’s border crisis disaster.
“Why is FEMA paying for illegal alien housing while ignoring Americans suffering in their own country?” Musk asked in his post.
Great question.
FEMA’s budget is supposed to be reserved for disaster relief—you know, things like hurricanes, wildfires, floods—not for luxury accommodations for people who broke our laws to get here. But under Biden’s open-border policies, federal agencies have been hijacked to support the massive influx of illegal migrants, with FEMA’s mission completely derailed in the process.

President Trump saw this coming. That’s why, in January, he signed an executive order creating the FEMA Response Council to address exactly this kind of abuse. Trump highlighted that FEMA had been diverting over a billion dollars—yes, a billion—to support illegal immigration, rather than focusing on its core mission of disaster response for American citizens.
Musk says a clawback demand will be made today to recoup the $59 million from these hotels. And it should be. Every single dollar needs to be clawed back and redirected to help actual Americans—veterans, families displaced by natural disasters, and communities in crisis.
Let’s not forget: back in May 2023, even New York’s own Mayor Eric Adams admitted that half of the hotel rooms in NYC were occupied by illegal migrants. HALF!
This isn’t just fiscal irresponsibility. It’s a betrayal of American citizens who expect their government to put them first.
It’s time to put an end to this madness. Trump’s back in charge, and with watchdogs like Musk on the case, the days of unchecked waste and abuse are numbered.
