Kamala Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, is facing serious allegations stemming from an incident with an ex-girlfriend over a decade ago. According to a report from the Daily Mail, Emhoff allegedly struck his then-girlfriend in the face during a heated altercation following a 2012 Cannes Film Festival event in France. The shocking details have been shared by three of the alleged victim’s friends, who claim Emhoff slapped her so hard that she spun around while waiting in a valet line.
The incident reportedly occurred late at night after both Emhoff and his girlfriend had been drinking. One friend recounted that the woman offered money to a valet in an attempt to move ahead in the long taxi line, which Emhoff apparently misinterpreted as flirting. This misunderstanding allegedly prompted Emhoff to slap her in the face. She slapped him back in response.
“It was around 3 a.m. They had both been drinking, and things escalated quickly,” the friend shared with the Daily Mail. “She was sobbing on the phone afterward and broke up with him that night.”
The Daily Mail has chosen to keep the identity of the alleged victim private, referring to her as “Jane” in the article. They also provided supporting evidence, including a copy of Emhoff and “Jane’s” travel itinerary, which confirms their attendance at the Cannes Film Festival.
The woman’s friends claim that Emhoff showed no remorse following the incident, even joking about it later with a tennis metaphor, reportedly saying, “Don’t worry about it, you got one across the court and down the line.” The friends also allege that Emhoff admitted to cheating on his first wife with their children’s nanny, a relationship that reportedly resulted in a pregnancy.
Despite these disturbing claims, Emhoff’s public persona has been one of support for women’s rights, particularly as the husband of Kamala Harris. However, the allegations paint a very different picture of Emhoff’s past. One friend stated, “He’s a really bad guy. To hold him out as a supporter of women is just disgusting.”
As of now, neither Emhoff nor Harris has publicly responded to the allegations.
