Jake Tapper’s media apology tour is hitting potholes — and his former CNN colleague Chris Cuomo just lit up the road behind him with flames.
In a fiery segment Tuesday night on NewsNation, Cuomo ripped into Tapper over his new book Original Sin, co-authored with Axios reporter Alex Thompson, which details the behind-the-scenes chaos inside the Biden White House. The book includes explosive admissions about how Joe Biden’s aides routinely managed his schedule, filtered his interactions, and masked his cognitive decline.
Tapper and Thompson’s book is being heavily promoted on CNN, where Tapper — now attempting a full-scale rewrite of his own record — is portraying himself as a journalist who was simply “deceived” by the Biden administration.
Cuomo wasn’t having it.
“They want you to believe that the media was deceived into thinking that Biden had no issues,” he scoffed. “Don’t count me in on that. I knew, okay? And it was no secret because you knew, too.”

Cuomo called out what he saw as Tapper’s calculated move to save face now that Biden has imploded politically. “It could just as easily be a picture of the writers of this book who are pretending they didn’t see and hear what everybody else did,” he said, mocking the book’s cover showing Biden covering his eyes.
Cuomo suggested that Original Sin wasn’t just a book — it was a deflection. “It’s a cover for something that’s much more serious to me than Biden’s age and stage ever were: The reality that many in the media knew damn well that Biden was losing it, but they played it down because they wanted Trump to lose more. The original sin is not hiding Biden’s age and stage, but hiding this preference.”
That sentiment echoes criticism from across the conservative media landscape. On Monday, Megyn Kelly confronted Tapper directly about why he failed to ask Biden any serious questions about his obvious mental decline — particularly after Biden famously searched for a dead congresswoman, Jackie Walorski, during a live event.
Tapper claims he feels “humility” now and wishes he had done more. But humility doesn’t undo the damage caused when legacy media figures like Tapper refused to challenge Biden’s decline and instead dismissed people like Lara Trump as “conspiracy theorists” for pointing out what every American could see with their own eyes.
Now that Biden’s cover has been blown and his staffers are leaking like a sieve, Tapper wants to be seen as a truth-teller. Cuomo, to his credit, isn’t letting him off that easy. And neither should anyone else.
Jake Tapper is a buffoon.
