Well, grab a seat because Ontario Premier Doug Ford is having a full-blown meltdown over President Trump doing what he’s always promised to do—put America First. Shocking, I know.
So here we are, with President Trump once again flexing the kind of economic muscle that made him a hero to millions of working-class Americans—especially the ones who watched their towns wither away while globalists shipped jobs off to China, Mexico, and yes, even Canada. On Wednesday, Trump slapped a clean 25% tariff on imported passenger vehicles, light trucks, and a laundry list of car parts. Engines, transmissions, powertrains—you name it. It’s all going to cost a lot more to dump into the U.S. market now, and that’s exactly the point.
And if that wasn’t enough to send globalists into cardiac arrest, Trump’s broader executive order enacting reciprocal tariffs takes effect April 2—what he’s rightfully calling “Liberation Day.” The idea? If your country taxes American goods, then guess what? You’re getting the same treatment. Radical concept, huh? You know, treating America like it actually matters.
Now cue Doug Ford, who absolutely lost it over this move. The guy practically threatened economic terrorism during his press conference. “We’re gonna make sure that we inflict as much pain as possible on the American people,” he said. Wow. I mean, who hurt this man?
Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he’s going to “inflict as much pain as possible” on the American people in response to the latest tariffs.

Let’s rewind a second. Ford, the so-called “Progressive Conservative” Premier of Ontario (which is basically like saying “vegetarian butcher”), is openly vowing to retaliate against Americans. Not just Trump, not U.S. policymakers, but American families. People trying to buy a minivan or hang onto their job in the Midwest. He’s out here playing chicken with people’s livelihoods because he’s mad President Trump is doing what Joe Biden never had the spine to do: protect American workers.
Ford even dragged his pal, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, into the tantrum and encouraged him to “target American cars.” That’s cute. I guess we’re back to the 1970s when Canada thought they could flex on the U.S. economically. Spoiler alert: They can’t. President Trump already made Ford fold once when he threatened retaliation for Ford’s stunt about shutting off electricity to over a million Americans. Ford blinked, just like Trudeau did during the NAFTA renegotiation.
Look, President Trump isn’t playing patty-cake with foreign leaders. He’s playing hardball, and it’s about time someone did. The days of the U.S. being the global doormat are over, and if that makes a few Canadian bureaucrats cry into their Tim Hortons, so be it.
