Campbell’s VP Reportedly Caught Mocking “Poor People” While Claiming 3D Printed Meat

Campbell Soup Company is having the kind of week every PR department fears, thanks to a leaked recording that makes their leadership sound less like wholesome brand ambassadors and more like the villains from a cheap corporate satire. According to a lawsuit filed in Wayne County Circuit Court, a former security analyst, Robert Garza, says he was fired for blowing the whistle on a senior executive who, during what was supposed to be a simple salary discussion, went on a rant that would make Gordon Ramsay blush.

Garza says he met with Campbell’s Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer, Martin Bally, at a restaurant in late 2024. Instead of talking compensation, Bally apparently decided it was the perfect time to mock Campbell’s customers while bragging about what he claims is hiding in the food. On the recording Bally says, “We have s**t for f**king poor people. Who buys our s**t?” Then he added that he barely eats Campbell products anymore because now he knows “what the f**k’s in it.” He even claimed the company is using bioengineered meat, adding, “I don’t wanna eat a f**king piece of chicken that came from a 3-D printer.”

Nothing says brand confidence quite like calling your customers poor and your food printed poultry.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Garza says Bally threw in racist comments about Indians, saying they “don’t know a f**king thing” and “couldn’t think for their f**king selves.” Garza kept the recording for a few weeks, then reported Bally to his supervisor, J.D. Aupperle. Instead of being thanked for raising concerns about an executive insulting customers and co-workers, Garza was fired roughly twenty days later. Convenient timing, to say the least.

Garza’s attorney says his client had no disciplinary history and was simply standing up for colleagues who were the targets of Bally’s comments. The lawsuit frames this as retaliation, and frankly, given how quickly he was pushed out the door, it’s hard not to see why.

Campbell Soup Company responded with a carefully worded statement saying that if the recording is legitimate, the comments are unacceptable and don’t reflect company values. Bally has been placed on leave while they investigate. They also insisted their food is high quality and that the claims about bioengineered meat are “patently absurd,” reminding everyone that Bally works in IT, not food production.

Maybe so. But when your own executive says he won’t eat the product, calls it unhealthy, and claims 3-D printed chicken is involved, it’s going to take more than a press release to calm the public. Campbell may still be “mmm mmm good,” but right now their leadership looks like a mess.
