Ah, Joe Biden—America’s “Cuddly Grandpa in Chief,” except when he’s not. On Sunday evening, Biden treated the press corps to another one of his classic temper tantrums after delivering remarks at a reception for new Democrat members of Congress in the State Dining Room. And boy, did he bring the fireworks.
After a speech filled with the usual mix of gaffes, tall tales, and awkward ramblings—including yet another nostalgic stroll down segregationist lane with Jim Eastland—Biden decided it was time to remind everyone just how “wise” he is. Channeling his inner angry uncle at Thanksgiving dinner, he barked at reporters, “I might be the oldest president – I know more world leaders than any one of you ever met in your whole G-D- life.” Classy, Joe. Nothing says presidential like yelling expletives at the people doing their job.

Now, let’s unpack this. First, Biden loves to lean on his age as a badge of honor, as though being 82 is somehow proof of unparalleled wisdom. Sure, he’s old enough to have shaken hands with a who’s who of history, but let’s not confuse proximity with competence. Knowing a lot of world leaders doesn’t mean they respect you—or that you’ve done anything worthwhile with that access.
This isn’t new behavior for Biden, either. The media’s been trying to sell us a fictional Joe Biden for years—a lovable, folksy elder statesman who just wants to unite the country. But when the mask slips, we see the real Joe: mean-spirited, condescending, and perpetually angry. Remember 2020, when he told a voter in Iowa he was a “d–n liar” and challenged him to a pushup contest? Or when he physically poked CBS’s Ed O’Keefe for asking a basic question? That wasn’t grandpa accidentally raising his voice; that was decades of arrogance boiling over.

And let’s not ignore the elephant in the room: Biden’s sharp edges are getting worse as his mental acuity declines. His outbursts have all the hallmarks of someone struggling to keep it together. The term “sundowning” gets thrown around for a reason—when the sun sets, so does the filter between Biden’s brain and his mouth.
So, while the press continues to paint Biden as a harmless, affable elder statesman, don’t be fooled. His anger, lies, and condescension are not quirks; they’re the real deal.
